One Night
- Depart Mumbai.
- Arrive, check in, afternoon at Alibaug or Varsoli beach.
- Kolaba Fort at low tide, then Kihim or Nagaon.
- Depart, back in Mumbai by around 19:30.
Mumbai to Alibaug is about 95 km by road and takes around 2 hours 30 minutes in a car. In one of our vehicles, plan for roughly 110 km and 3 hours 30 minutes. The Atal Setu bridge has cut a significant amount off this drive.
Most people think of Alibaug as a ferry trip. By road you can carry luggage properly, you are not tied to a ferry timetable, and the vehicle stays with you for the villa hopping that most groups end up doing anyway.

Approach roads to the beach villas are often narrow. Send us the address when you book.
Google Maps assumes a car on an empty road. Our vehicles are speed limited to 80 km per hour as RTO rules require, they carry a full load, and they halt on the way. Plan for roughly 10 to 15 per cent more distance than the map says, an hour more on trips up to five hours, and two hours more beyond that.
Some venues and rural roads on this route cannot take a large vehicle. Send us the exact pickup and drop addresses, including any unpaved or monsoon affected stretches, and we will confirm access before you book rather than on the day.

Comfortable with the vehicle staying for villa hopping
| Group size | We suggest | Why on this route | Trip shape |
|---|---|---|---|
| 4 to 6 | Kia Carens, Ertiga or SUV | Reaches beach villas a coach cannot | Same day or 1 night |
| 7 to 13 | 14 seater Tempo Traveller | Fits most villa approach roads | 1 night |
| 9 to 16 | 16 seater Force UrbaniaPopular pick | Comfortable with the vehicle staying for villa hopping | 1 night |
| 13 to 20 | Maharaja Tempo Traveller | Wider seats, popular for family weekends | 1 or 2 nights |
| 14 to 26 | Tempo Traveller | Group weekends and wedding guest movement | 1 night |
| 19 to 33 | Mini Bus | Larger groups, where the road allows | 1 night |
| 45 and above | Luxury AC Bus | Destination wedding guest shuttles | 1 or 2 nights |
The bigger the vehicle, the less each person pays. A 13 seater on a Lonavala day trip works out around ₹615 a head. A 49 seater on the same trip works out around ₹367. If your group sits close to the next size up, going up usually costs less per person.
Travelling with elderly passengers or small children? Book one size above your headcount. The spare row means somebody can put their feet up and lie down, or the children have somewhere to play.
Alibaug is a major destination wedding location and we run a lot of guest movement here. Beach villa approach roads are frequently narrow, so for a wedding we plan a mix: a coach for the main shuttle and smaller vehicles for the last stretch where a coach cannot go.
Planning the day
Our recommendation One night is the sensible shape. Same day is possible now that the bridge has cut the drive, but seven hours of driving for a few hours on the beach is a tight day.

The year on this road
October to March.
Monsoon is dramatic but the sea is rough and many activities close.
Alibaug is one of the busiest wedding destinations near Mumbai.
Guest shuttles are a large part of what we run here.
The ferry is faster for foot passengers.
By road you carry luggage properly, keep the vehicle with you, and are not tied to a timetable.
Reachable on foot only at low tide.
Check the tide timing before you plan the day, because it decides the whole morning.
Alibaug, Varsoli, Kihim, Nagaon and Kashid.
Kashid is about 30 km further and worth the extra drive.
Often narrow and sandy near the beaches.
Send us the villa address when you book so we send a vehicle that can actually reach it.
Before you ask about price
About 2 hours 30 minutes for the 95 km in a car since the Atal Setu opened. In a full vehicle with a speed limiter and a halt, plan for around 110 km and 3 hours 30 minutes.
By road if you have luggage, a group, or want the vehicle with you for villa hopping. The ferry is faster if you are travelling light and hiring transport at the other end.
Often not. Beach villa approach roads are narrow and sometimes sandy. Send us the villa address when you book and we will tell you what size vehicle can get there.
Yes, regularly. It is one of the busiest wedding destinations near Mumbai. We usually plan a mix of a coach for the main guest shuttle and smaller vehicles for the last stretch.
Yes, now the bridge has cut the drive. It is still a tight day though, with around seven hours of driving. One night is the better shape if you can.
